If you're flying out of Kota Bharu Airport after your island stay, here's the most important thing to know: your flight must be at least 3 hours after your boat departure time.
Why?The boat takes ~45 minutes to reach Kuala Besut Jetty, then a 1-hour taxi to KBR Airport. Add check-in time (1 hour before domestic flights) and a buffer for traffic or sea delays. We've had guests miss flights because they took the 4:00 PM boat for a 6:00 PM flight — by the time they reached the airport, check-in had closed. Rule of thumb:Add 3 hours from boat departure to flight time, and you'll be safe.
